Type 1 Diabetes Mindfulness Group
In 2016 a mindfulness group will be run for people with Type 1 Diabetes. Past clients have found this group extremely helpful. They have learned skills for coping better with aspects of their diabetes, as well as gaining support from a group of people with similar experiences.

These groups are based on the MBCT model, which has been shown to be helpful for people with chronic illnesses. It is an eight week programme, lasting for 2 hours each week.
Participants practice mindfulness meditation daily, and start to become acquainted with habits of mind that can be unhelpful.Discussion in the group sessions focusses on learning new ways to interact with these habits of mind.

Fees and rebates
The diabetes psychologist fee is below the recommended Clinical Psychologist rate of $238 set by the Australian Psychological Society.
Concession rates are possible if you have a healthcare card.
Medicare rebates
Medicare rebates are available for some patients.
If you have been referred by your GP under a Mental Health Care Plan, you will be eligible for a clinical psychologist rebate of $124.50 per session, for up to 10 sessions.
Medicare rebates may also be available under theĀ Chronic Disease Management Plan
A medicare rebate may also be applicable for Group Psychological Therapy
Please note: Once you have spent a certain amount on medical expenses you have reached the Medicare safety net and Medicare will pay for 80% of your out of pocket expenses.
Private health funds
Most private funds offer a rebate for clinical psychology services. Please contact your fund directly for more information.
Note that you cannot claim from your private and medicare on the same consultation.
How to pay
This fee can be paid by cash or EFTPOS at the consultation.
Cancellation fee
Please give at least 48 hours notice prior to cancellation. Fees will be charged if less notice is given.

Supervision for psychologists
Sarah is an experienced supervisor of clinical psychologists, both for endorsement and for ongoing professional development. She is particularly sought after for her knowledge gained from working as Senior Clinical Psychologist in a Diabetes Team.
Supervision is available both face to face and via phone/video
